Funding a UAE Company From Morocco
For a Moroccan company, this is the first question to settle. Under the IGOC 2026, a Moroccan company can transfer funds through its bank to invest abroad, without prior Office des Changes authorization, up to MAD 200 million per calendar year. To use this route, the company generally needs at least three years of activity, accounts for the previous year certified without qualification by its statutory auditor, and an investment that is linked to and develops its existing business. Financial placements and real estate are excluded.
Start-ups labeled by Morocco’s Digital Development Agency (ADD) have their own route of up to MAD 10 million per year, without the three-year and audited-accounts conditions. Investments above the ceilings need Office des Changes authorization.
The rules also apply after the company is formed. Income and sale proceeds from the UAE investment generally have to be repatriated to Morocco, and loans or shareholder advances to the UAE company have their own repayment timelines. We design the UAE company, its share capital and its funding with these obligations in mind, and confirm the details with your Moroccan bank and advisers before the first transfer.
Individuals are treated differently. A Moroccan resident investing personally abroad does not use the company route, so founders planning to hold the UAE company in their own name should confirm their position with their Moroccan adviser first.
Mainland or Free Zone: What Moroccan Businesses Should Know
The right choice depends on where and how the UAE company will trade. A free zone company suits regional trading, holding and services outside the UAE market, while a mainland company is usually needed to trade freely inside the UAE. We assess your activity, client base and ownership plans against each option’s licensing and operating rules, and recommend the structure that fits.

Residency for Founders and Managers
A UAE company can support residence visas for its owners and staff, and some founders qualify for a long-term golden visa through company ownership or investment. We advise on the UAE residency route alongside the company structure, and coordinate applications with a licensed immigration specialist.
A UAE residence visa does not by itself change your tax residence. Moroccan tax residence depends on factors such as where your home and main interests are and how much time you spend in Morocco. Your Moroccan adviser confirms that position, and we explain how the UAE side works, including UAE tax residency certificates.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does WTA coordinate with our Egyptian advisers?
Under the IGOC 2026, a Moroccan company meeting the conditions can invest up to MAD 200 million per calendar year through its bank without prior authorization, and ADD-labeled start-ups up to MAD 10 million. Amounts above these ceilings need Office des Changes authorization. We confirm the route with your Moroccan bank before planning the share capital.
Can a new Moroccan company invest in the UAE?
The standard route generally requires at least three years of activity and audited accounts, so a recently formed company may not qualify unless it holds the ADD start-up label. Your Moroccan adviser confirms which route is open to you.
Should we choose a mainland or free zone company?
It depends on whether you will trade inside the UAE market, regionally or as a holding company. We compare the options against your activity and ownership plans before recommending one.
Does forming a UAE company give me UAE residence?
A UAE company can support residence visas for owners and staff, and some routes lead to a golden visa. Eligibility depends on the structure and your circumstances, and we plan it alongside the company.
How much does it cost to set up a UAE company?
It depends on the structure, licensing authority and activity. We provide an itemized estimate before you commit.
